GIS TEAM CROWNED WINNERS AT INTER-SCHOOL QUIZ


 
Gulf Indian School emerged winners of the Inter School quiz competition,
KQ Matters, for the second time in a row.  The quiz was conducted by the Indian Educational School on 21st October 2011 with a participation of fourteen schools in Kuwait.  This quizzing event was yet another venue to prove the brilliance of the GIS students Sneha A Mathew and Shanthi Roy of classes 8 and 9 respectively.

The students were endowed with trophies, certificates and a cash prize of KD 500 for their stellar performance.

GIS QUIZ KIDS IN THE LIMELIGHT

The Gulf Indian School quiz team staged a glorious performance in the 15th Interschool Quiz contest conducted by M/s. Derek O'Brien & Associates and organized by the Bengali Cultural Society on 21st  October 2011.  52 students from 13 schools in Kuwait participated in the event. Peter Nikhil David and Praveena Mahesh came out as the second runners up in a neck to neck match of wit and reasoning.

GIS STUDENT FIRST IN INTERACTIVE DEBATE

Bhakti Priya (Class X) of Gulf Indian School bagged the first position out of 22 participants from 11 Indian Schools in the Interactive Debate Competition.  This was organised on October 1st  by the Association of Indian Professionals to commemorate the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.

The 16th batch of class X students of Gulf Indian School had the distinction of being the first batch under CBSE’s Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation Scheme. 

It is to the school’s credit that all the 73 students opted for the ‘School Conducted’ CBSE examination and all of them qualified for admission to the next level. 

The students, once again added feathers in their caps with their commendable performance.   

The maximum CGPA 10 was scored by 12 students:  Parthasarathi Kuri, Sheryl Mathew, Tahmina Islam, Dhivyalakshmi, Nithasha Miriam Ninan, Pavithiraa,  Rachna Nandakumar, Shubham Mundada, Delysha Rose Dias, Karoline Stephen, Reema George and Sujith Samuel Samson.  Another 21 recorded CGPA 9 and above.   

The result underlines the fact that GIS provides a conducive and stress free environment to acquire the various skills essential for facing life challenges in future.

GIS SECURES 100% PASS

 

Gulf Indian School takes pride in announcing the fabulous results of the 14th batch of Class XII.  Out of the 50 students who appeared for the exam 49 students scored above 60% aggregate and one above 50%.   Besides having a 100% pass, GIS recorded an average of over 80% aggregate score in the Board exam 2011. 

In the Science Stream, Shadma Arshad, an unassuming, consistent and conscientious student notched the first position with an aggregate of 95.8%.  She is the Kuwait Topper in Biology with a perfect 100 and also in Physics with 99. She is the school topper in Chemistry with 95.   Her other scores are: English – 89, Maths – 96.   

In the second position is Nanda Krishnanm the versatile and talented all rounder with 94.4% aggregate. He is also a school topper in Chemistry with 95. His other scores are: English – 95,  Physics – 93, Maths -95, Computer Science – 94.   

Systematic and diligent Amanda Philip Lopez bagged the third position with a score of 93.2%.  She is the school topper in Maths with 98. Her other scores are: English – 86,    Physics – 94,  Chemistry – 92, Computer Science – 96.   

In the Commerce stream, Thelma D’Souza, a smart, vivacious student bagged the first position with an aggregate of 90.8%.  She scored the highest in school in two subjects: in Accountancy - 94 and also in Business Studies - 94.  Her other scores are: English – 94,  Maths – 84, Economics – 88.   

Kavita T.Chandran, a combination of consistent hardwork and sheer will is in the second position with an aggregate of 88.2%. She is the school topper in Economics with 95.  Her other scores are: English – 95,  Maths – 91,  Accountancy – 89, Business Studies – 71. 

Chirag Moorthy, a focused and silent worker secured the third position with an aggregate of 83.6%.  He also shared the top position in school in Accountancy with a score of 94. His other scores are: English – 84,  Economics – 72,  Maths – 85,  Business Studies – 83.

 

The other subject wise toppers are:

Anu Thankam Abraham    : Informatics Practices  – 96

Ria Susan Thomas          :Computer Science – 99

Meril Daizel                       : English – 96

 

The result reflects the academic enhancement of the school.  It was the combination of teamwork, dedication and determination which made GIS come out with flying colours.  The GIS family congratulates the young achievers who have added another chapter of accomplishments to the annals of their Alma Mater.
